Activities & Attractions in the Enniscorthy area
Enniscorthy Castle & Museum
When the Normans built a castle, they built it to last. Enniscorthy Castle is in the centre of the town and overlooks the River Slaney. Nearly 800 years after its construction, the huge castle is still in remarkable condition.
Though restored and modernised in recent times, many original features remain. The three drum towers which flank the castle are classics of their kind. Throughout the centuries, the castle had many owners including the poet, Edmund Spenser

Beaches
Wexford is blessed with a host of beautiful Blue Flag beaches with warm, golden sand and blue seas...
Duncannon Beach (Blue Flag)
One of the best in the South East, Duncannon Beach has held the EU Blue Flag of excellence since 1987. The Beach is a golden mile of sand with two lifeguards on hand to help ensure a safe and happy visit.
Curracloe Beach (Blue Flag)
Curracloe - A regular holder of an EC Blue Flag, this glorious beach was voted the best beach in Ireland in 1992. The dunes are currently the subject of an active conservation policy by Wexford County Council ensuring that this marvellous amenity and the plant and wildlife it contains, will be preserved for future generations. A nature trail runs through the dunes and continues for 5 km to Raven Point, passing through the beautiful peninsula which constitutes Raven Nature Reserve.
Curracloe / Ballinesker beach is also famous in Hollywood! The beach was used by Steven Spielberg as the set for the 'Omaha' beach landing sequence, featuring in the first twenty minutes of Dreamworks' smash war film 'Saving Private Ryan'.
